The plan from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation would distribute the money to approved projects over six years. Organizations like northern Virginia's Metro system and the VRPA would get big chunks of the funding, while areas like Hampton Roads and Alexandria would get smaller amounts to buy new buses and cover other operational costs. The Commonwealth Transportation Board is holding a series of meetings around the state to get public input on the plan.
