It started Monday in Varina at a home on New Market Road where someone was burning trash, and it spread to 75 acres. No one was hurt, and no homes were damaged, but the county fire marshal cited the person who allegedly started the fire. The deputy fire marshal says burning trash is illegal, and considering the conditions, it's also careless. He tells CBS 6 fire conditions are heightened due to dry conditions and extreme heat, and he urges the community to exercise extreme caution during this ongoing dry spell.
