(Charlottesville, VA) -- The University of Virginia is suspending a controversial campus tour program that allegedly criticized the school's founder. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: The student-led tours led by the University Guide Service have ended after two years of inconsistency in content and bad attendance by volunteers. An alumni group had called for the tours to end saying volunteers had been mentioning that Thomas Jefferson, UVA's founder, was a slave owner. The university released a statement last week saying the tours would end, but not due to The Jefferson Council's criticism, but rather the fact that student volunteers were not showing up for scheduled tours. The school says they hope to work with University Guide Services to re-start tours by spring of 2025. I'm RR.
