Roanoke County Middle and High School students participated in the Project Sticker Shock campaign to raise awareness about underage drinking. Students placed stickers on alcohol cases at local stores to warn about the penalties for buying alcohol for minors. The program was held in partnership with Virginia ABC, local grocery stores and gas stations. Roanoke County Police Officers partnered with students to help raise awareness about the dangers of underage drinking. WFXR reports that providing alcohol to minors in Virginia is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $2,500 fine.
