A new quarterly economic forecast from the University of Virginia shows a rise in unemployment in the state this year. The forecast was developed by the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and predicts the increase for this year and next. It finds Virginia's labor market is shrinking with the state already seeing nearly 8-thousand job losses so far this year. The forecast says Virginia is expected to lose another 24-thousand jobs throughout the remainder of the year.
