BAE Systems sent all employees of the Radford Army Ammunition plant a notice on September 27th saying the facility was shut down due to flooding following Hurricane Helene. A second notice followed on October 4th saying that all union employees were furloughed and eligible to apply for unemployment benefits. Some non-union employees have reportedly returned to work while union leaders say their members have had trouble filing for unemployment due to a lack of communication by the company. BAE Systems says it is committed to getting employees back to work as soon as it is safe to do so.
