Danville officials are trying to build a second battery storage unit. The director of city utilities, Jason Grey, tells ABC 13 News that the project would help keep costs lower as the River City grows...

The battery system would allow the city to store energy throughout the year and release it back into the power grid during times of extremely hot or cold temperatures. Grey says while the ten-million-dollar project would be funded through residents' electrical rates, it would save them money in the long run. If everything goes as planned, the technology should be ready by April of 2026.
