Sen. Aaron Rouse introduced a bill to clarify the 90-day threshold for voter roll removals and extend the response time for flagged individuals to contest their potential purge, addressing concerns about slow mail delivery and protecting voters. This move comes after last August, when Gov. Glenn Youngkin defended the removal of voters from the rolls believed to be non-U.S. citizens, sparking backlash and a lawsuit due to the violation of federal law prohibiting voter roll purges within 90 days of an election. Virginia Murcury reports that The bill has passed the Senate but must clear the House of Delegates before reaching the governor for approval.
