Governor Glenn Youngkin called the decision a "victory for common sense and election fairness, while Attorney General Jason Miyares called it a win for "the rule of law." Democratic leaders were quick to condemn the decision, with Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Don Scott calling it a "sad day for the Commonwealth and the country." The Department of Justice and several voter and immigration groups sued the state over the voter purge, saying it was happening too close to next week's election.
