The U.S. Solicitor General asked Chief Justice John Roberts to dismiss the state's request yesterday. The DOJ says every state can and should remove ineligible voters, but argues that Virginia violated federal law by doing so too close to the November election. The state has asked Roberts to intervene or issue a stay in the case, but no decision was announced yesterday.
