With many families struggling to keep warm during the colder weather, the shelter provides a warm place to stay, charge devices, and rest until power is restored. The station, located at Meadowbrook Community Center, was open on Monday and Tuesday with nearly 2 thousand people in the county reported without power.WDBJ reports that Appalachian Power Company estimated that all residents will have power back by 11:00 p.m. Wednesday.
