The $16.2 million dollar project in Montgomery County will include new equipment and upgrades, with funding supported by a low-interest loan and loan forgiveness. The Christiansburg town council awarded the contract to rebuild the wastewater treatment plant to the Ulliman Schutte (SHOOT-ee) Company. Additionally, the Roanoke Times reports the council discussed supporting the relocation of the New River Valley Regional Commission to Christiansburg, with some members expressing concerns about the move's impact on tax revenue. Despite some reservations, the council ultimately voted 4-1 to support the relocation.
