The city issued a Boil Water Advisory yesterday afternoon. It came after the storm caused a power outage at a water plant along the James River. That led to flooding of the filter gallery, which contains critical water infrastructure. The flooding caused the city to stop water production. Mayor Danny Avula issued an update just after midnight. He said the dedicated staff at the Department of Public Utilities is working tirelessly to restore operations. Avula said he planned to spend the night at the water plant to support those working round-the-clock to get water operations back up and running.
