A brush fire in Franklin County has grown and is effecting between 400 and 450 acres, with firefighters battling gusty winds to contain the flames. The fire, which started Wednesday afternoon, has caused damage, including one home being destroyed. While progress has been made, crews are expected to remain on the scene into Thursday. A mandatory evacuation order has been lifted, but residents are urged to stay vigilant. Fire crews are working with the Red Cross to assist those affected, and two firefighters have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic in the area has been impacted, with road closures in place. Another smaller blaze in the area is 90% contained.
