Governor Glenn Yougkin made that declaration yesterday following President Trump's executive order to shut down the U.S. Department of Education. The order directs the Secretary of Education to "return education to the states," which Youngkin called a welcome shift in responsibility. Youngkin added that Virginia will not allow discrimination in classrooms and will ensure students are ready to enter college or the military or start a career when they graduate.
