The governor posted a video on social media on Tuesday saying Virginia is "right across the Potomac" and offers "a great quality of life." Youngkin also said that living in Virginia would allow Trump staffers to pay less in taxes than they would in DC or Maryland. A study by the nonprofit Tax Foundation shows that Virginia has an average state and local tax rate of nearly five-point-eight percent, while DC and Maryland have a six percent tax rate.
