(Richmond, VA) -- Governor Youngkin made a record number of vetoes this year. Sara Bartlett has more.Preview: Voicer Script:
According to the Virginia Public Access Project, Governor Youngkin vetoed 201 bills passed during the 2024 General Assembly session. The data shows that's more in a single year than the past seven governors of Virginia did in their four-year terms. Among some of the vetoed bills were raising the state's minimum wage to 15-dollars an hour by 2026, opening a recreational cannabis retail market, allowing skill games at small businesses and protections for contraception access. This all comes as Democrats were in charge of the General Assembly for the first time since Youngkin's been in office.
