(Norfolk, VA) -- The Virginia Zoo is mourning the death of one of its flighless birds. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: The zoo posted about the death on Facebook recently saying Shilling, their 17-year-old emu passed away on December 12th. They say he died during a veterinary procedure to find out why he had recently lost so much weight. Shilling had been at the zoo since 2010. He was often in the company of his companion Lester. Lester was euthanized earlier this year due to his arthritis no longer being manageable with pain medication. The zoo says the results of Shilling's necropsy are pending. He was the last emu at the Virginia Zoo. I'm RR.
