Jake Irvin tossed seven shutout innings to lead the Nationals to a 3-0 win over the Pirates. James Wood led off the game with a home run, giving the Nationals a lead it would never relinquish. The Orioles lost their home series opener to the Guardians 6-3 last night. Charlie Morton got the loss on the mound for Baltimore after he allowed five earned runs in five innings. The Orioles allowed the first six runs of the game before closing the gap late. The O's have lost four of five. The teams will continue their series tonight.
Dylan Strome netted the third hat trick of his career in the Capitals' 3-1 win over the Islanders in New York. Strome now has 29 goals this season, a new career high. Washington will wrap up the regular season Thursday on the road against the Penguins.
