Despite a massive performance by rookie sensation Caitlin Clark, the Washington Mystics won 89-84 over the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Ariel Atkins propelled the Mystics with a team-high 26 points. Rookie Aaliyah Edwards had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists off the bench. Washington is 6-and-17. The team is off until Sunday when it faces the defending champion Las Vegas.
The field for the Home Run Derby is set. Adolis Garcia of the Texas Rangers and Teoscar Hernandez of the Los Angeles Dodgers have been announced as the final two competitors in the eight-player field. Two-time champion Pete Alonso of the New York Mets, Philadelphia's Alec Bohm, Baltimore's Gunnar Henderson, Atlanta's Marcell Ozuna, Cleveland's Jose Ramirez and Kansas City's Bobby Witt Jr. are the other players set to compete for the derby crown.
