A child is dead after drowning in Richmond. Richmond Fire and EMS says a nine-year-old boy drowned Saturday night while swimming with his family between Pony Pasture and the Meadows. Rescuers found his body about 45 minutes later underwater in a deep hole up against an underwater rock. His name and identy has not been released.
A police officer and a suspect are in the hospital following a weekend shooting in Norfolk. The police department says officers were called to a home on Arcadia Street on Saturday afternoon to help Child Protective Services with a case. A man came out of the house and began shooting at officers, injuring one. The suspect was shot multiple times and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities say the wounded officer was in good condition following the shooting, which is still being investigated.
