Family and friends gathered to celebrate the unveiling of a new state historic marker honoring the Claytor family. The Claytor Memorial Clinic, one of the first Black-owned medical clinics in the region, provided essential care to the community. Four people are hurt and two pets are dead after a fire in Chesterfield County. It happened Friday night at the Interstate Inn on Indian Hill Road. Firefighters say heavy smoke was coming from a room on the second floor. A firefighter, a police officer and two others were taken to the hospital but are expected to survive. Two cats were killed, though. Investigators say the fire was an accident.
