A Richmond swimmer will have plenty of people rooting for him in the Olympics. About 200 people attended a pep rally yesterday at NOVA of Virginia Aquatics for Charlie Swanson. The 26-year-old first-time Olympian will represent the US in the Paris Games in two weeks. He couldn't attend the rally because he's training with the team in Europe, but he sent a video message to show his appreciation. His mother tells 12 On Your Side she's very happy that he has been able to achieve his dream.
11 current and former student athletes from the University of Virginia are set to compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The athletes, representing various countries, will participate in track and field, soccer, swimming, and tennis events. WRIC reports the 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
