City data is showing pedestrian deaths are on the rise on Hampton Roads. And state police agree saying deadly pedestrian crashes have increased this year. HRTPO Principal Transportation Engineer Keith Nichols tells WAVY speeding is a huge factor in the data. He adds people are driving differently post-pandemic, and enforcement is also down. Nichols says all these factors are contributing to more traffic cameras being installed throughout Hampton.
Someone in Virginia woke up more than one-point-five-million dollars richer. The Virginia Lottery announced a ticket matching all five winning numbers in the Cash 5 drawing has been purchased. Lottery officials say it was purchased at Evergreen Liberty in Haymarket. The person who purchased that ticket has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize from the Virginia Lottery.
