A man is in custody after allegedly attempting to shoot someone at a church in Suffolk. The Suffolk Emergency Communication Center says they got a call of shots fired at the Divine Church of Deliverance and Transformation yesterday afternoon. Witnesses say a man entered the church during service hours and attempted to shoot one of the staff members who was on site. The man shot one round in the direction of the staff member, but missed. He was then detained by church members until police arrived. Authorities say no other injuries were reported. Police are still investigating the incident
An Averett University plane made an emergency landing over the weekend. The university says the plane experienced an autopilot malfunction during an afternoon training flight Saturday. The school says the pilot was able to land the plane in a field near the Little Black River in South Carolina. No injuries were reported.
