Toll relief is coming to residents in certain Hampton Roads cities. Governor Youngkin approved 101-million dollars in toll relief for the Downtown and Midtown tunnels that cross under the Elizabeth River between Norfolk and Portsmouth. If you make less than 50-thousand dollars a year and live in Portsmouth, Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton and Franklin you will be eligible for up to 14 free trips per week. Those residents will also be eligible for forgiveness of individual toll debt and will be able to receive a free E-Zpass transponder. The cost to free up tolls to everyone in Virginia is estimated at roughly two-billion dollars.

Parents in Chesterfield County may want to consider brown-bagging their kids' lunches. That's because the school board voted yesterday to raise the price of school lunches by 25 cents. 12 On Your Side reports for elementary school students, the price next school year will be 3-25, and for middle and high schoolers, it'll be 3-50.
