Arlington Public Schools say they've been successful in hiring more substitute teachers. The school district says they've been able to end their first week of school with an 89 percent substitute fill rate. That's higher than previous years where the fill rate ranged from 60 to 80 percent. The district says raising pay and having earlier recruitment has helped. The county has around one-thousand active subs.
