Closing arguments are expected today in the involuntary manslaughter trial of a former Fairfax County police officer. Wesley Shifflett was charged after shooting and killing 37-year-old Timothy Johnson outside Tysons Corner Center last year. Shifflett took the stand yesterday and told jurors that he believed 37-year-old Timothy Johnson posed a deadly threat at the time of the shooting. Johnson was unarmed and was being chased by police after allegedly stealing sunglasses from Nordstrom. Prosecutors say Shifflett recklessly discharged his gun and used excessive force in his pursuit of a shoplifting suspect.
