Police are investigating after a student reported an on-campus sexual assault that allegedly happened in a bathroom at Manassas High School. The school's principal sent a letter to parents last week to inform them about the August assault. The female student said she was in a bathroom near the gym when the unidentified person assaulted her. The suspect was reportedly wearing an animal mask at the time of the attack. The school plans to implement additional safety measures, including additional supervision in areas where students may be vulnerable.
The Star City of the South celebrates a fun birthday over the weekend. In 1949, the Roanoke star, also known as the Mill Mountain Star, was first illuminated on November 23rd as a way to kick off the holiday shopping season. Roanoke held a celebration Saturday for the 75th year of the lighting of the icon.
