A Danville man has died while tubing in the Dan River. Sixty-eight-year-old Fred Floyd was pulled from the river yesterday near Carrington Pavilion. Investigators say the group he was tubing with lost sight of him and then found him unconscious in the water. Floyd was not breathing when he was pulled from the river and efforts to revive him failed. Danville Police are investigating his death.
More and more Americans are concerned about making ends meet, according to a survey from the Consumer Finance Institute at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. It found that nearly 37-percent of consumers said they were worried about their finances over the next year. That's compared to less than 35-percent who said the same in January. The survey said the increase was seen most among younger respondents and higher income consumers.
