The Richmond Zoo is celebrating it's first holidays with its new baby pygmy hippo. The baby hippo was born December 9th. Parents Iris and Corwin have two other hippo calves together. Pygmy hippos are native to the swamps and rivers of West Africa. They're on the endangered species list with less than 25-hundred living in the wild.
Two people, including a James City County Police officer, have been injured in a crash. The accident happened Tuesday night at the intersection of Richmond Road and Rochambeau Drive. Authorities say the officer and another passenger from the other involved car were taken to VCU Medical Center in Richmond. There is no information on their condition. The James City County Police Department and Virginia State Police are still investigating the incident.
