HCA Healthcare says the surgery center in Hanover will be 1st phase to their hospital plan. HCA has finally received approval to build a $21 million outpatient surgery center in Hanover County after two previous denials. Despite objections from rival health system Bon Secours, the state health department approved the project, citing the need for additional operating rooms in the area. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports HCA plans to eventually expand the Middle Virginia Surgicenter to include a freestanding ER, a 60-bed hospital, and more. Bon Secours is also planning its own freestanding ER in Hanover.
