Portsmouth native Missy Elliott, along with 19 other recipients in entertainment, will be receiving National Medals of Arts. The awards will be presented next week by President Joe Biden at a White House ceremony. Elliott is being recognized for her contributions as a trailblazing music artist.
Some National Forest areas in Virginia are reopening post Helene. The George Washington and Jefferson Forest has reopened areas that were closed due to damage from the Hurricane. However, some forest roads and trails remain closed for recovery efforts.
