Richmond International Airport says it will be enhancing security checkpoints to help passengers travel more smoothly. The airport will be receiving two-point-25-million dollars from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for the upgrades. They say a new consolidated checkpoint will have between 10 to 12 screening lanes to allow passengers through heading to either concourse in the airport.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says another long-term ramp closure will affect Virginia drivers. VDOT says construction of the Hampton Roads Express Lanes continue and will require closure from the southbound LaSalle Avenue to I-64. VDOT says crews have put up signed detours to advise drivers of the changes. VDOT says the closure will allow for demolition and reconstruction of the I-64 bridge. The ramp closure is expected to last about a year.
