A new report presented to Roanoke City Council has shown residents have bad health outcomes compared to others in the state. The report was presented yesterday by the Virginia Department of Health. It found Roanoke City residents have a shorter life expectancy than others in Virginia. The average lifespan is 71 years-old, compared to 78 years-old statewide and 77 years-old nationally. The reports the leading causes of death among residents as cancer, heart disease, drug overdoses, diabetes, and Covid-19.
