The Norfolk Health Department has launched a new wellness website. It includes resources for Virginians to get help for mental health and substance abuse. It also features an ad campaign featuring a garbage truck. The website allows for self assessments to help gauge anxiety, stress, or addictive problems. The department says they hope to open up lines of communication for people suffering with addiction or other mental health issues.
Democratic Representative Jennifer Wexton is leaving Washington. The three-term congresswoman gave her final speech on the House floor yesterday. Wexton says she's leaving Congress due to a severe illness. Wexton was previously diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), which is a neurological disorder similar to Parkinson's disease. It affects Wexton's ability to speak along with other symptoms. Wexton says one of her proudest moments was helping pass the National Plan to End Parkinson's Act.
