Approximately 65 Virginia National Guard soldiers are positioned at VNG facilities along key corridors in Virginia to assist with the response to winter weather. The troops are prepared to work with local emergency managers to provide support as needed, including clearing roads and power line routes. WRIC reports that teams are also ready with trucks, Black Hawk helicopters with rescue hoist capabilities are on standby.
Several brands of canned tuna sold in Virginia and other states have been recalled due to a botulism risk. Tri-Union Seafoods has recalled canned tuna products sold under the Genova, Van Camp's, H-E-B and Trader Joe's brand names.The company is urging consumers not to use the tuna even if it does not look or smell spoiled. No illnesses have been reported.
