Vital records for Virginians are now available online. The Virginia Department of Health's Office of Vital Records are now providing birth certificates online. Prior requests included having to file paper forms in the hospital. The VDH says records can now be sent express delivery or standard. Express delivery comes with a $20.80 fee for each certified record. Standard processing charges a $12 fee.
A historic racetrack in Virginia is coming back to life. The Southside Speedway is set to be revitalized after being closed for nearly five years. It originally opened in 1959, but shut down after the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Chesterfield County has secured a 20-year lease with the Economic Development Authority for the track. And while upgrades and renovations will help get the track back up and running, the size of the track, which is a third of a mile long, will stay the same.
