Northern Virginia Community College says it is offering scholarships to recently fired federal workers. The NOVAnext program is offering up to one-thousand displaced workers nearly a million dollars in scholarship aid. Applicants who qualify will be able to enroll in one of 14 courses for free. To qualify you must also be a Northern Virgina resident and reside within areas including of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties.
Recipients of SNAP benefits in Virginia are reporting reductions in their funds. This comes as the USDA announced more than one-billion dollars in cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits nationwide. Some recipients are even reporting their benefits have been cut in half. Governor Youngkin's office has not responded to the reduction in benefits for Virginians.
