State flags in Virginia are flying at half-staff today. Gov. Youngkin ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of the anniversary of the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting. The mass shooting killed 32 people and injured 17. The shooter opened fire in two locations on the campus and at the time was considered to be the biggest mass shooting in American history. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset.
The SPCA of Richmond is offering bigger dogs for a big discount. The organization is offering bigger breed dogs or those weighing 50 pounds or more for a 50% discount. The event runs through the end of this week with a number of larger dogs up for adoption. The SPCA hopes to clear up space at the shelter and find forever homes for the animals. The event is being held in partnership with the Best Friends Animal Society.
