A Franklin County teen has been charged after authorities say they found a gun on campus. The 17-year-old was taken to the Roanoke Valley Juvenile Detention Center and is being held on gun possession charges. Earlier this week, school officials contacted police after the student shared a Snapchat picture showing a gun while on school campus. The school was placed on a shelter-in -place for about 30 minutes while police secured the campus.
Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new internship program for Virginians. The company says it's bringing its "Fun-ternship Program" to the region with a six-week paid internship for students. It will allow them to learn about the inner workings of the cruise line. The program runs from June 21st to August 2nd. The application deadline is May 1st.
