The parents of a child who had a gun discharge in his backpack while at school have been charged in the aftermath of the incident. Thirty-six year-old Ciara Armstead and 34-year-old Terrence Carroll, Jr. have both been arrested and charged. The two were released yesterday after posting bond. The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office says no students or staff were injured when the handgun accidentally discharged inside a class at Lee Hill Elementary.
Several families of students at Covington Middle School have hired lawyers to represent them after students experienced symptoms related to possible carbon monoxide exposure. Nearly 18 families have lawyered up after their children reported having headaches and extreme fatigue when at school. The middle school identified a carbon monoxide leak on January 31st. Some also claim they've been threatened with truancy notices when they keep their children home.
