Governor Youngkin has vetoed a bill that allows African American History courses to count towards graduation requirements in high schools. The bill would have allowed students to substitute African American history or AP studies for either World History I or World Geography. A spokesperson for Youngkin says students can choose any class they are interested in and are not being limited from taking African American history. African American history classes can currently be taken as electives.  
 
A new quarterly economic forecast from the University of Virginia shows a rise in unemployment in the state this year. It finds Virginia's labor market is shrinking with the state already seeing nearly 8-thousand job losses so far this year. The forecast says Virginia is expected to lose another 24-thousand jobs throughout the remainder of the year.
