Arlington National Cemetery is squaring away its Memorial Day plans. Members of The Old Guard will place flags at each gravestone on Thursday, but the annual Flags In event is not open to the public. The public is invited to Flowers of Remembrance Day on Sunday, the only time of the year when visitors can place a flower before the Tome of the Unknown Soldier.
A new App may soon be able to save lives. Researchers at UVA Health are developing a smartphone app that can quickly detect heart attacks and strokes. The app asks users questions and includes a finger-tapping test to assess symptoms. WDBJ reports that in a clinical trial with over 200 patients, it was 100% effective at identifying those needing hospital care. The app aims to help patients recognize symptoms and seek timely medical attention to improve outcomes. Further testing is needed before the app is available to the public.
