A school bus carrying children in Hopewell has crashed into a home. Authorities say the crash happened early this morning at around 8 a.m. Hopewell Police say four children were on the bus, two of which were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The families of the affected students have been notified. Police are still investigating but say weather may have played a factor in the crash.
A major plywood plant in Virginia is closing its doors. Georgia-Pacific will permanently close its plant in Emporia on July 1st. The company released a statement Friday saying housing affordability challenges and a 30-year low on existing home sales have impacted their business. Georgia-Pacific makes plywood products used by contractors for home repair and remodeling. The plant is one of four in Virginia and will result in more than 550 jobs being lost.
