Governor Youngkin has until the end of the day to sign, veto or amend bills passed by the General Assembly earlier this year. The governor announced that he'd signed 88 bills into law, amended 11 bills and vetoed 11 others. The governor rejected several bills related to abortion and reproductive access, though he did approve one that would prevent the use of court orders to demand women's menstrual health data. Among the bills amended by the governor was one that would allow Petersburg to hold a referendum on building a casino. The governor still needs to decide whether he will amend or veto a state budget package that he's described as backward and a huge tax increase for Virginians.

A weekend fire at a northern Virginia property being used as an inn has left two people injured and caused millions in damage. The fire at Courtland Farm Manor Inn near Aldie was reported on Saturday morning. Firefighters were able to bring the fire at the historic rural home under control in about 90 minutes. A member of the inn's staff and a firefighter were taken to a hospital for evaluation and released. The fire marshal determined that the fire started accidentally and was caused by a combustible liquid being stored near a heat source. Damage to the property was estimated at two-point-eight-million dollars.
