It's Memorial Day Weekend so expect Virginia roads to be busy. Triple A estimates more than one-point-two million travelers in Virginia will hit the road and add that the holiday will be one of the busiest, if not the absolute, busiest, since the pandemic. One good thing -- drivers will encounter fewer restrictions on highways. VDOT has suspended many highway work zones around the state. Most lane closures will be lifted until Tuesday.
It's not just the roads, the skies are busy as well. WTVR-TV reports that nearly 10-thousand passengers went through TSA checkpoints at Richmond International Airport Thursday. That's the most in the airport's history, though today or numbers throughout the weekend could even exceed that. At Norfolk International Airport, officials expect more than nine-thousand passengers to pass through checkpoints this weekend.

The National Park Service had denied the group a permit to hold its annual Memorial Day mass at Poplar Grove National Cemetery in Petersburg. The National Park Service had denied the permit because the ceremony was religious. The Knights of Columbus sued and yesterday, they were granted a permit so the lawsuit was dropped.
