The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Salem on Sunday. Maximum wind speeds were about 105-miles an hour and there were reports of damage to homes and other buildings, along with down trees and power lines. More surveying of damage is being done today.
Virginia Beach Police continue to investigate after a 15-year-old was shot and killed at Mount Trashmore Saturday. An 18-year-old is in critical condition. WAVY-TV reports that it happened around 8:30p.m. at the park when groups began fighting and shots were fired near the Summer Carnival. No arrests have been made and police are still looking for evidence. They're asking anyone with information to contact them.
