Two landing crafts, one based in Norfolk, were involved in an incident this week that injured 30 sailors and Marines. The U.S. Navy says it happened Wednesday night and involved the Norfolk-based USS Wasp and the USS New York. It happened off the coast of Jacksonville, but further details haven't been released. Five sailors were taken to the hospital for treatment. Other crew members were treated on board.  
 
 
Lynchburg will not be holding its International Festival this weekend. It was planned for Saturday at City Stadium, but now WSET-TV reports city leaders saying it has been cancelled to "ensure everyone's welfare." Officials added that it was a "difficult decision," but that the "safety and wellbeing of attendees, volunteers and employees are the utmost priority." Leaders have said there haven't been any immediate threats to the community surrounding the event, but Lynchburg City Manager Wynter Benda said "recent national events and discussion have raised concerns about potential misuse of events" like this one.

Book lovers are being invited to a Fairfax County library for a special sale this weekend. Supporters of the Reston County Regional Library have collected around a thousand boxes of used books that will be on sale through Sunday. Organizers say it's the most books ever collected for one of their sales. Money raised through the sale will be used to support library programming throughout the year.
