A new pipeline running through southwest Virginia is under scrutiny after a leak during a pressure test last week. The leak was reported Wednesday in a section of the Mountain Valley Pipeline that runs over Bent Mountain in Roanoke County. The pressure tests are being done to show that natural gas can be safely shipped through the pipeline beginning next month. Opponents say the leak illustrates their claim that the 300-mile pipeline can't be operated safely. The leak is being evaluated and no timeline to resume testing has been announced.
